The source of coal gangue

Gangue refers to the carbon-containing rocks and rocks discharged from coal mines during the construction of wells, development and excavation, coal mining and coal washing. It is a general term for solid waste discharged during coal mine construction and coal production. The sources of gangue are mainly the following three aspects.

Coal Gangue
① Gangue produced during rock tunnel excavation, usually called raw ore gangue, accounts for 60%-70% of gangue. The main rocks are mudstone, shale, siltstone, sandstone, conglomerate, and lime.
② Gangue produced from the roof, floor, and rock interlayers added to the coal seam during coal mining, accounting for 10%~30% of gangue. Common rocks in the roof of coal seams include mudstone, shale, claystone, and siltstone; rocks in coal seam gangue include claystone, carbonaceous mudstone, siltstone, rock, etc.
③ The gangue produced in the process of coal sorting or washing, also known as washed gangue, accounts for about 5% of the gangue. It is mainly composed of various intercalated stones in the coal seam, such as kaolinite, clay rock, pyrite, etc.

While enjoying the industrial innovation brought by coal as an energy source, humans are also suffering from problems such as air pollution, water pollution, occupation of arable land, and loss of life and property caused by the nature of gangue, the stacking of gangue, and the collapse of gangue mountains. Gangue is solid waste generated in the process of coal production and processing. The comprehensive utilization rate of industrial solid waste reaches 60%, of which the comprehensive utilization rate of fly ash reaches 75%. Gangue reaches 70%. Unfortunately, the utilization rate of gangue is less than 30%, and most of the gangue can only be handled in a simple stacking way.
Therefore, through crushing and processing, it is applied to brick making, construction and other industries to realize its value utilization.
